Mayte Gomez-Castano was awarded the “Special International Jury” thesis prize from the University of Bordeaux, as part of the 2021 thesis prize from the University of Bordeaux organized by the college of doctoral schools.

Mayte carried out her thesis under the co-supervision of Serge RAVAINE (Paul Pascal Research Center) and Agustin MIHI (Institute of Materials Science of Barcelona) from 2016 to 2020.
Her work involved the development of large-scale optical metamaterials by combining lithography with electroplating, which in particular allowed the formation of fishnet-type metamaterials with negative refractive index values from visible to near infrared.
