Every year, the iXcore – iXlife – iXblue Research Foundation selects researchers whose work is at the highest calibre. It aims at facilitating their work, and in particular making them more responsive.
The jury of the Foundation, chaired by Alain Aspect, awarded a €50k 2023 prize to Alexandre Baron.
He works on metamaterials and more specifically the study of the nanostructuring of basic building blocks (meta-atoms) for artificial materials, with controlled light absorption and scattering properties, fabricated by self-assembly. This new generation of systems would make it possible to form materials for a wide variety of applications, such as passive cooling, spatio-temporal control of light and the production of low-power devices for laser technologies.
