Two instruments dedicated to X-ray diffraction and scattering techniques. Structural studies of different types of materials: from crystallinity or organization to the identification of phases or phase transitions in temperature. Particularly suitable for soft matter (polymers, gels, dispersions, self-assemblies, etc.)
• 1 RIGAKU HF-007 rotating anode machine (8keV), including:
1 X reflectivity line for measuring thicknesses and roughness of thin layers.
1 line equipped with a MarResearch Mar345 “Image Plate” type detector, variable sample-detector distance, accessible 2Theta angle range 0.3 ° -54 ° (SAXS / WAXS).
Several accessories fit on the sample holder allowing temperature studies from 0 ° C to 250 ° C or grazing incidence.
• Xeuss 2.0: commercial device distributed by XENOCS
Equipped with a GENIX-3D copper source, FOX-3D optics and XENOCS “anti-scattering” motorized slits, it delivers an 8keV beam, the size of which can be modified according to the characteristics of the measurements to be made.
In order to limit absorption by air, the samples are placed in a vacuum airlock and, depending on their nature, can be placed on different types of support.
The data is collected on a DECTRIS PILATUS-300k detector placed at different distances from the sample, giving access to the angle range 0.03 ° – 50 ° (0.025nm-1 – 34.5nm-1).
A thermostatically controlled module makes it possible to carry out studies in T ° from -30 ° C to 150 ° C.
Grazing incidence studies are also possible thanks to an advanced GISAXS module.

This approach allows the measurement of the size, size distribution and zeta potential (charge) of colloidal objects in solution (molecules, proteins, polymers, latex, nanoparticles, etc.). It is also possible to measure their average molar mass Mw, their radius of gyration as well as the second coefficient of the virial A2. The Stopped-Flow type rapid mixer associated with static light scattering also makes it possible to follow the assembly-reaction-complexation kinetics of molecules / polymers … at very short times
A static and dynamic light scattering bench (30 ° -150 °) of the ALV type (633 nm). Allows to go back to the size distribution and shape of nanoparticles.
A Zetasizer Nano ZS and a Mastersizer 2000 particle size analyzer (Malvern). Size and zeta potential measurements of particle colloids. Measurement of the molar mass of macromolecules and of the DLS interaction parameter.
A Vasco Kin, from Cordouan Technology. Nanoparticle size analyzer that combines dynamic time-resolved light scattering technology and an in situ and remote optical probe, allowing non-contact measurements and real-time kinetics tracking.
Two fast Stopped-Flow SFM 400/4000 mixers (BioLogic).
